These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Docgrity extension for Visual Studio Code ("the Extension"), published by Ujjavala Singh ("we", "us"). By installing or using the Extension you agree to these Terms. If you install the Extension on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation.
Docgrity for VS Code analyses markdown documents in repositories you open, to surface potential duplicates, contradictions and open questions, with supporting evidence and inferred potential ownership, and can draft GitHub issues for your approval. The Extension runs entirely inside your VS Code installation. We operate no servers and cannot access your repositories or accounts. It is distributed under the MIT licence.
The Extension's AI analysis uses the language models available through Visual Studio Code's built-in language-model API — typically your own GitHub Copilot subscription, or a local model you configure. You are responsible for: (a) your agreement with, and any fees charged by, your model provider (e.g. GitHub); (b) ensuring that sending your repository content to that provider is permitted by your organisation's policies and applicable law; and (c) your compliance with that provider's terms. Content sent to your model provider is processed under your agreement with that provider, not ours.
Findings and issue drafts are produced by AI models and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or wrong. The Extension presents evidence for every finding, verifies excerpts against your files, and labels inferred ownership as potential — but you are responsible for reviewing findings and issue drafts before acting on them. The Extension never posts, edits, or modifies anything without explicit human confirmation.
When you approve raising an issue, the Extension posts it to GitHub using credentials you grant through VS Code's authentication. You are responsible for having the right to create issues in the target repository, and for the content of issues you approve.
You must not use the Extension to violate any law, infringe third-party rights, or analyse repositories you do not have the right to analyse.
Data handling is described in our Privacy Policy & Data Statement, which forms part of these Terms. In short: everything stays on your machine, the only external data flows are to the model provider you use and (on your approval) GitHub, and we collect nothing.
The Extension's source code is licensed under the MIT licence. You retain all rights in your repository content and in the findings generated from it.
The Extension is provided on an as-available basis and depends on Visual Studio Code and your chosen model provider, whose availability we do not control. We may update, change, or discontinue features, and may update these Terms; material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Extension is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of findings, and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including the Australian Consumer Law.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, loss of profits, or loss of data arising from use of the Extension. Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Extension is limited to AUD $50. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to re-supply of the service.
You may stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it. Sections 3, 7, 9, 10 and 12 survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If any provision is unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Extension.
